Iowa Hawkeyes player, Caitlin Clark, is now the biggest star athlete in both Men and Women’s basketball. Clark, 22, success still comes to the Iowan after her finals loss to fellow NCAA star Angel Reese and LSU. Moreover, Clark had a public controversy with Reese due to their in-game actions being seen as disrespectful and antagonistic. The young athlete is doing big numbers both on and off the court despite all the adversity.
There are a lot of eyes watching this record-breaking young star. Venues all over the country that host Iowa Hawkeyes games are selling out tickets. Clark directly contributed to the NCAA securing a new eight-year rights deal with ESPN that’s worth $920 million. The “Clarkonomics” continue as her attendance at the Big Ten tournament caused the event to sell out in its history. Moreover, Iowa Hawkeyes game tickets cost on average anywhere between 350-570 dollars.
Caitlin made it known by a post on X (formally known as Twitter) that she plans to play in the WNBA. This move reminds watchers of the sport of when Reese said she’s in “no rush” to enter the WNBA because she’s “…making more money than WNBA players,” which is a statement of fact. It is a fact that also holds true for Caitlin. Her Nike and Gatorade deals along with her other major brand deals that use her name, image, likeness are worth an estimated $900,000.
However, it seems that Clark won’t miss out on “the bag” when she enters the WNBA. She’s reportedly expected to be the No. 1 pick for the WNBA draft and receive $74,000 in her first year. It’s also expected that many of her deals will continue as she enters the league in addition to her receiving more deals.
The future certainly looks bright for this talented young star athlete.
