Tennis lovers rejoice because The Hill in New York hosted by Wimbledon has returned. Wimbledon is the world’s oldest tennis tournament and is often considered the most prestigious by many in the tennis community. The London-based tournament started hosting a live-viewing event in New York City two years ago. Wimbledon’s New York event returns this year with a bigger area because of its popularity and success. Moreover, Wimbledon gave attendees a free concert to set the tone for the event. The concert is a first for Wimbledon’s The Hill in New York.
Media personality and fashion model Sophie Sumner hosts all three days of the Hill in New York. Day one of the event saw the enchanting starlet welcome guests, promote the event’s activities, and introduce the featured acts.
The Concert
DJ Sunny Cheeba opened the event at 6 PM with a groovy disco house-infused set. Attendees vibed to the thumping and grooving music that featured mixes of ‘Let No Man Put Asunder,’ ‘Blame It On the Boogie,’ and Joey Begor’s mix of ‘Hot Shot.’
Sunny Cheeba added a bit of hip-hop flavor into the mix with songs such as ‘Move Ya Body’ by Nina Sky. She put the crowd in a great mood and got everyone warmed up and dance-ready for the rest of the event.
7 PM marked when singer-songwriter AJ Mitchell took the stage and set hearts on fire. Many in the crowd had positive comments about his good looks and vocals. The growing artist performed a few of his popular hits, including ‘Foolish’ and ‘Slow Dance.’ Moreover, the 23-year-old star had incredible chemistry with the crowd and shared some details of his musical journey.
AJ’s music and crowd-work brought the audience in, and they surrounded the stage during the middle of his performance. AJ Mitchell displayed more of his talent when he sang some of his songs while playing piano.
The showstopping headliner was Nicole Scherzinger, a former member of The Pussycat Dolls. She entered the stage with two backup dancers and met the crowd’s roaring cheers. The star singer performed excellently with powerful vocals and full-body dancing. The crowd sang along as she sang her classic singles ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath’ and ‘Right There.’
Additionally, Nicole took things back by singing a couple of The Pussycat Dolls songs. One of those songs was their smash hit ‘Don’t Cha.’ There wasn’t a still body in the venue during the incredible set. Scherzinger’s moves were riveting and infectious. Nicole used every inch of the stage for her performance and showed out.
